Do you speak English? I'm not talking about what you learn about school, the adverbs, adjectives, etc. what I'm talking about is much more.
Today at schools, work, and almost anywhere you go, you're bound to hear foul or unnecessary language. It has become the new normal, and most, even some Christians, take the name of the lord in vain. It has become harder to talk to people about this problem as well since you will likely be labeled a hater or a biggot.
I wanted to talk about the reason and principal why a Christian are not suppose to include the idiotic, slandering words others do. First and foremost, like Exodous 20:7 says, we are not to misuse the name of our creator in any sense, (see http://www.gotquestions.org/Lords-name-vain.html for more) And to think now, it's just lost its reason, and has become repetition, without meaning.
To be plain, it ultimately goes deep to the heart, and shows of an issue between you and God that has to be worked out accordingly.
As for the other words they are crude, and often ruin the sentence you are trying to say. Our English language offers so many amazing words that have so much beauty, grace, and the potential to build up instead of tear down. To me, the swear words used today sound so dumb. I'd much rather hear a variety of encouraging, graceful words that exist.
.
For me, as I've drawn more and more into the writing world I've discovered the power of words, and how much of an impact they can have( negative or positive.) I have a dream of becoming a writer/illustrator when I'm older and am practicing it now. This has forced me to look deeper into the origin of languages, the Tower of Babel. This is another story for another time, but our languages are amazing and can be used in such an impactful manner, that you or me could make or break the day of others around us.
To conclude this week's blog, I want you all to examin yourself and ask, "Is my vocabulary glorifying to God, and have I chosen words full of beauty to use outwardly to others?" And as for the knock off brand of foul language, like frik, freaken, gosh, etc., pray to the Lord and whatever the Lord presses on your heart to not say, don't. Listen closely and decide based on Godly advise whether or not to use those words.
Thanks for reading, and God bless!
